Amazon Prime just added a 10-cent discount on gasoline. Here's how to get the deal

In This Article:

Amazon Prime members can get their newest perk at the pump: 10 cents off every gallon of gas.

Prime members can get the 10 cent-discount, effective immediately, at about 7,000 Amoco, AM/PM and BP gas stations across the U.S. You get the discount by activating it using Earnify, a loyalty program used by BP and these other BP-owned stations and convenience stores.

The gas discount is the most recent perk added to Amazon Prime, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually. The membership includes free deliveries (some the same day), Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, Amazon Photos, and discounts at Whole Foods and GrubHub+.

Feedback from Amazon Prime members led to the gas discount being added, Amazon Prime Vice President Jamil Ghani told USA TODAY. "We always look at where we can be of value to members and every time we ask … what would make Prime even more valuable for them, it's fuel savings," he said.

The average Prime member can save about $70 over 12 months with the discount, Ghani said. And next year, Amazon plans to add an electric vehicle charging discount at BP Pulse, the company’s electric vehicle charging business.

Gas prices remain a concern for consumers despite falling prices recently.

Amazon Prime members will find this gas savings deal "a very valuable addition," said Neil Saunders, managing director of retail at data and analytics company Globaldata. "Gas is something the vast majority of Americans purchase, so a 10-cent saving is a significant benefit."
